Student and early career support
We hope to see as many trematodology students and early career researchers as possible attend Trematodes 2024, from varied laboratory groups, institutes and nations. We think the trematodology community is a collegial and supportive bunch — if you are a student working on trematodes, we are keen to meet you and interested to learn about your research, please join us in Brisbane!
Travel visas: Please note, all visitors to Australia (except from New Zealand) will require a travel visa. Depending on your passport, you may require a letter of invitation to support your visa application. Please contact the organising committee at trematodes2024@gmail.com to request a letter.
Travel support: The organising committee expects to be able to offer funds to contribute to travel costs for some students and early career researchers. We are actively seeking sponsorship from various sources to support student travel. Similarly, we have committed that all surplus funds will be directed back to travel support for students and early career researchers. However, being the inaugural meeting, we do not yet know how much will be available, nor how many students to expect.
For these reasons, student support will likely be awarded immediately following the conference. The committee is still carefully deliberating how best to divide and award funds, but priority will likely be given to students and early career researchers from developing nations.
We encourage all interested students to search for and apply to local and international student conference travel schemes.
Student presentation awards: Awards will be available for outstanding student presentations. Trematodes 2024 will include both oral and poster presentations. We hope to be able to offer oral presentation slots to all attendees who wish to present, and we are eager and interested to hear from as many students as possible. We anticipate a friendly, supportive and interested audience, so please plan to contribute!
